CREAR day

Wednesday

It rained ALL NIGHT. We have been under a tropical depression hence all the rain. The sun did not come out all day, but I'm kinda grateful for that. It meant the day was cooler and we had a nice breeze. This doesn't mean we didn't get hot and sticky, but just a little less than other days 😉

We walked through the mud and puddles and streams to get to class at 8 this morning. After our 2nd break (we get 2 15 minute breaks during our 4 hour class periods), the electricity went out in the bottom classrooms and we weren't able to use the air conditioning or smart boards in the upstairs classrooms. So, the classes with students played a game on the upstairs landing - a type of scattergories game.

After classes, we got to have a leisurely lunch and explore/shop/walk the beach for a bit before our next activity - volunteering with CREAR. CREAR is a non-profit organization that offers free art, English, and environmental classes to the students in the area since they don't teach those in school. We got to play a game with the kids, helped them with an art project (making little pompoms of string to make a little rug), and then played a version of Hide and Seek. We had fun with the cute kids!

We made our way to our houses for a quick supper and back to school for a beach bonfire, s'mores, a little serenading on guitar by Seth, and some beach frisbee. The sound of the waves, the crackling of the fire, and good company made for a memorable night 😊 Oh, we also made some MORE dog friends.

Tomorrow, we get to have a slow morning and then go to dance and cooking classes before our last normal classes of the week. ¡Hasta luego!

This is what we see on our walk to school...
